State level workshop on Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture of Assam with the District Nodal Officers of ITFC at the Assam Administrative Staff College,Khanapara

  • The Directorate of Indigenous Tribal Faith and Culture (ITFC) organized its first State level workshop on Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture of Assam with the District Nodal Officers of ITFC at the Assam Administrative Staff College,Khanapara on 10th November, 2023. Inaugurating the workshop, Shri Paban Kumar Borthakur ,IAS, Chief Secretary, Assam ignited the participants by sharing his take on the rich cultural heritage of Assam contemplating the complementarity between Indigenous faith and Tribal culture and governance. Shri Ranjan Sarma,ACS, Commissioner and Secretary, ITFC detailed the steps taken by the government to nurture and promote the rich heritage of Indigenous faith and culture of Assam. Technical Sessions on (1)'Tribes of Assam: A glimpse of their faith and culture' ,(2) 'Tribes of Assam: Strategies for promotion and preservation of their culture and heritage' by Dr. Farzana Begum, RO, AIRT&SC, (3) 'Issues and Challenges related to indigenous faith and culture in Assam' by Shri Manash Nath, ACS, Secretary, ITFC and (4)'Indigenous Tribal Faith and Culture: the way forward' by Shri Pankaj Chakravarty , ACS, Director, ITFC paved the way for the day long learning experience for the participants. The action points agreed during the workshop will contribute in shaping many new initiatives in pipeline by ITFC department.
